What is DOT?
DOT – Digital Opportunity Trust is a growing network of 6,000 youths who have created opportunities for 1 million people in communities across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Indigenous Canada.
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, with locally-managed offices in Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Rwanda, South Africa, and Tanzania, they work in 25 countries as development innovators and catalysts.
DOT is a youth-led movement of daring social innovators who have the tools, knowledge, and networks to create opportunities and transform their own communities.
In 2018 when I was in Canada ,I attended the youth leadership program which is called DOT (Digital Opportunity Trust) .This program gave me the opportunity to develop my social business idea about empowering school girls. After 5 weeks of intensive online and offline classes I became very clear how I am going to achieve it.
DOT was a quite highly competitive program but I could succeed to be among the 7 selected teams. Later as a part of this program they sent us from Canada to Kenya where DOT youth unconference was held. We spent 1 week in Nairobi, Kenya and it was a very dynamic program. Young social entrepreneurs from 13 different African countries came together. It was a great learning experience. As a part of the unconference I delivered there workshop about the “Collective Impact leadership”
My journey later continued in Baku Azerbaijan. I started to deliver newHorizons workshops about mindset, global mindset, leadership, entrepreneurship in the villages of Baku. Later I understood that this problem needs to be solved from its root and in order to solve this problem i need to collaborate with many stakeholders. I decided to do a Master degree in Social Entrepreneurship in Tallinn, Estonia. I applied last year for this program and luckily I got admission. Recently I am studying at Tallinn University and at the same time developing newHorizons.
